Child Protective Services

The new proposed rules are a result of the passage of HB 1133 from the 2022 Legislative Session. The Department of Social Services was appropriated money to reimburse the cost of an adoptive home study. The child placement agency rule change reflects additional programs or curriculum now available to child placement agencies in South Dakota for training host families. Replacing the language of a specific program with broad topics that must be included in the training adds flexibility yet maintains minimum standards.
