The South Dakota Department of Transportation is proposing amendments to the following administrative rules: 70:01:02:26 – Edmunds County speed zone rule. The South Dakota Department of Transportation proposes to extend the current 45 miles per hour (mph) speed limit on U.S. Highway 12 westward from Ipswich past the intersection with 357th Avenue. The department is also clarifying the starting points for speed zones and revising speed zone measurements to the nearest one-tenth of a mile. 70:01:02:52 – Moody County speed zone rule. The department is proposing to change the speed limit on State Trunk Highway 34 in and around the Interstate 29 interchange in Moody County. Furthermore, the department is revising speed zone measurements to the nearest one-tenth of a mile. The purpose of the rule changes is to enhance safety, facilitate accurate speed zone signing, and promote understanding of speed limit locations.
