Administrative Rule of South Dakota 70:01:02:44

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is proposing amendments to the following rule: 70:01:02:44 – Lincoln County speed zone rule. Currently, a 55 miles per hour speed limit on State Trunk Highway 11 ends just south of its intersection with 69th Street in Lincoln County. The proposed rule would extend the existing 55 miles per hour speed limit on State Trunk Highway 11 in a southerly direction through Shindler. The proposed rule would also eliminate speed limits for highway segments that are no longer under the jurisdiction and control of the department. The purpose of the proposed rule changes is to enhance safety and eliminate provisions that purport to set speed limits on highways that are no longer under the authority of the department. Speed limit signing will need to be removed, installed, or relocated by the department’s maintenance forces to accommodate changes to the speed limit on State Trunk Highway 11. State and local law enforcement will be informed of the proposed and final rule changes.
