The South Dakota Department of Transportation is proposing amendments to the following administrative rules: 70:01:02:26 – Edmunds County speed zone rule. The South Dakota Department of Transportation proposes to extend the current 45 miles per hour (mph) speed limit on U.S. Highway 12 westward from Ipswich past the intersection with 357th Avenue. The department is also clarifying the starting points for speed zones and revising speed zone measurements to the nearest one-tenth of a mile. 70:01:02:52 – Moody County speed zone rule. The department is proposing to change the speed limit on State Trunk Highway 34 in and around the Interstate 29 interchange in Moody County. Furthermore, the department is revising speed zone measurements to the nearest one-tenth of a mile. The purpose of the rule changes is to enhance safety, facilitate accurate speed zone signing, and promote understanding of speed limit locations. 10/23/2025 11/12/2025 10/19/2025
70:01:02:44 -Lincoln County speed zone rule 70:01:02:44 – Lincoln County speed zone rule. In response to petitions from the City of Harrisburg and Harrisburg School District 41-2, the South Dakota Transportation Commission will consider whether to reduce the 55 miles per hour (m.p.h.) speed limit on State Trunk Highway 115 in and around Harrisburg. If the speed limit is changed, the department proposes to also revise speed zone measurements to the nearest one-tenth of a mile. The petitioners propose a reduced speed limit on State Trunk Highway 115 for the purpose of enhancing safety. The change in speed zone measurements is proposed by the department to facilitate accurate speed zone signing. 11/25/2025 11/21/2025
